⚠️ Eco v0.14 is coming — the next major update reworks upgrade modules, so some of these numbers will change. They reflect the current version. What’s changing →
  • Simpler tiers: the 1–4 tiered upgrades become a single Basic / Advanced / Modern upgrade each.
  • Permanent upgrades: a module placed in a workstation is permanent — no more swapping lower tiers out as you progress.
  • Power transitions: a module can change a station’s power type/draw (e.g. a Modern upgrade moves a sawmill from mechanical to electrical power).
  • Talent-integrated: modules now use the same bonus/talent system — any talent benefit (power, labor cost, recipe unlocks) can come from a module.
  • Cheaper to upgrade: with the multi-tier parts gone, fully upgrading a workstation costs significantly less.

We’ll update this calculator shortly after the update releases.

Using Tools

Having access to the best tools allow you to achieve the most progress.

Through the use of tools, citizens can build great structures and move mountains. The starting tools will allow you to effect small change only, but as technology advances you will gain tools that can perform batch operations, and eventually Vehicle that can make massive transformations to the world.

There are a number of different tool types available:
- Building Tools. Hammers will allow you to place construction materials in 'Forms', shovels allow moving soil.
- Farming Tools. Plowing, planting, and sowing all have tools to increase their efficiency.
- Transport Tools. Vehicles and tools for constructing roads are especially useful for transporting goods.
- Harvesting Tools. These tools allow collection of resources from the ecosystem.
- Hunting Tools. Hunting animals for food requires specialized tools.
Tools that are manually powered require Calories, affecting your Nutrition.
All tools have Durability associated with them, which drops as they are used. Once a tool has lost its durability, it will take a tremendous amount of calories to use, and should be repaired at a Repair Table.
